Pfalz stands for pure enjoyment and hospitality. The favourable mild climate enables wine-growing on more than 23,400 hectares.

White and red grape varieties, above all Riesling and Dornfelder, enjoy perfect growing conditions here.

With an average of 1,800 hours of sun the Pfalz is one of the warmest regions of Germany. This has a positive influence on the wines and the people, who live here.

  • Location
    From south of Worms to the French border, between the foothills of the Palatinate Forest eastward into the Rhine Plain.


  • Climate

    Lots of sun hours, average annual temperature 11° C. Mild, variable climate, where even sweet chestnuts, almonds, kiwis and melones thrive.



  • Soil

    Coloured sandstone, chalky loam and clay, as well as marl, interspersions of shell-limestone, isolated pockets of granite, porphyry and slate.

    Riesling, Müller-Thurgau, Dornfelder, Portugieser, Kerner, Silvaner, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir.
